Nestled in a cozy, wooded, beautifully landscaped area featuring trails, benches and towering trees, our birthing center has been designed by birth professionals specifically to provide a nurturing environment and state-of-the art care. Warm and calming colors and design welcome guests into our relaxed waiting area. Prenatal visits are scheduled in our exam rooms. Laboring mothers can choose from several of our well-appointed birthing rooms, each equipped with its own private Jacuzzi bath and shower. Mothers in labor can also enjoy taking a quiet walk through the picturesque wooded trails surrounding the center or stopping and enjoying a tranquil moment on one of the outdoor benches. Birthing options including water birth, use of a birthing stool or birthing ball and various birthing positions are all supported at AABC. Following the arrival of the newest family member, professional care for both mother and baby are administered in the same relaxed environment of the birthing room, giving parents the opportunity to meet and bond with their baby in comfort and calm.
Austin Area Birthing Center is staffed with eight professionals skilled in administering prenatal and postpartum care. Five full-time midwives, each with over 10 years experience in hospital and birthing center care, provide prenatal care and are on call around the clock for birth attendance.
The birthing center was designed by owner and director Jean Stokes, who has worked in hospital, home birth and birthing center facilities for over 25 years, and has created the best possible environment for healthy, safe and natural childbirth. Birthing center staff has experience in many special birthing circumstances, including vaginal births after cesarean (VBAC), Group B strep positive diagnoses, water birth and the utilization of varied birthing positions. Our midwives and postpartum care providers aid mother and baby in breastfeeding techniques and also coordinate with area lactation professionals for special need circumstances. |
